this video shows my recent upgrade from 15 watts to 75 watts i am really happy with the new performance.The inverter i used in this video was running at its maximum rating with seemingly no problems.Though when I run it for more than 30 minutes at this rate the cables and connections get rather warm. I am no expert but hope some of the information here helps someone with less experience than I. Keeping in mind one of the panels is 15 years old . Tidying up some of those wires will be another project .And have some underground wiring for a more permanent home for my inverters.I think it is a neat idea about the geothermal bottom heat for the battery.every little bit helps. Any suggestions post a comment.

For my thermodynamics project, I set the depicted components up to measure the total efficiency of charging batteries from the grid then discharging them through an inverter- in my case, 110v-24v-12v(wiring change)-110v-load. This is a small-scale model of a system that would serve a household wherein the grid power is only available for a few hours per day, or intermittently. Many areas in Africa are like this. My efficiency was about 60% total. I haven't yet measured individual component efficiencies yet using the DC powermeter, that is the test in progress while I took this video.

An excitation capacitor is required to make the 3 phase field while in star( the 8uF 660Volts Siemens Cap) The motor will stabilize it at around 380 - 400 Volts. The neutral has to be switched over to the star point otherwise the motor will brake. An extra pole is required on the delta relay to achieve this. The opposite is possible too although I have not tried it out is to start the motor in 230V delta, then switch to star and apply the 230 Volts across the star winding. In this case 127 / 220 Volts 3 phase can be achieved as well. 18 Dec 2010 Crawling is a running state of the motor, that the motor runs at 1/7 of nominal speed and remains running with excess current flow in the windings and can't get itself in correct synch with the mains.

Checking the waveform on a car plugin type Inverter, like the type you would use to power a laptop computer in a car. I used my NLS MS-215 Miniscope to view the waveform. As you can see it is much more like a square wave than a sine wave, more like a staircase waveform. It is called a "modified Sine Wave" but look at the scope, it is a "stairCase" nothing even looking like a sine wave or so called "Modified" sine Wave. The scope used in this video can't respond to the fast rise time of the waveform, put your small inverter on a real good scope and you will see a "staircase" waveform. These will be fine for things like razors, light bulbs, even tv's as I have used it for that. I would not want to use it to power a laptop computer, although it may be ok, but would you want to chance it?? Get yourself a DC to DC converter (12 to 19 V. depending on your computer) if you want to use your laptop in the car, they do sell thim.
